SWORD Studios may sound, at the very least, interesting for the name of a web studio. SWORD as you may have guessed is an acronym, for Social Websites Optimized Researched and Developed. I came up with the idea of Social Websites in 2008. The idea being that we shouldn’t continue to build these lifeless static sites but rather online environments that promote community and conversation.
I have been designing and developing websites since 1999. I fell in love with it after a class in high school and never looked back. I graduated with a Web Management and Internet Commerce B.S. degree from Johnson & Wales University. I returned to JWU as a professor and still teach to this day. I love teaching web whether it be in a classroom, speaking at a conference or writing articles.
In 2010 I was honored to speak at the Future of Web Design conference in New York. I also wrote the Blog Design chapter for the Web Designers Idea Book Volume 2. Currently I’m writing my own book geared towards helping “clients” better understand the web and educate them on their choices before jumping into a web project.
In the coming year I will be speaking at several meet ups and conferences.
